 ThinkPad X220 4286CTO

Brand: Lenovo (Laptop or Netbook)
Back

Release: Lisa
Status: Works fine with some minor problems

What doesn't work:

Works *almost* perfectly. Like a number of other people using Lisa I find that occasionally the trackpad stops working, but thanks to Linux Mint Forums I have found an easy way to reset it. See below.

When I'm editing a text document (whether using vi, OpenOffice, or whatever) the cursor occasionally jumps to a different place. I don't know whether this is
- I accidentally set off the touchpad with my palm
- I accidentally hit the red dot pointing device
- a software problem

What was done to make it work:

Occasionally the trackpad stops working. This appears to be a software bug. The easiest fix is to install gpointing-device-settings:

sudo apt-get install gpointing-device-settings

Then run

gpointing-device-settings

(or select 'Pointing Devices' from the 'Other' menu)

and uncheck 'Disable touchpad'.

Update, August 2012. If 'Disable touchpad' is not checked, check it, and then uncheck it again.

Additional notes:

This machine is truly awesome. Light, durable, fast, nice keyboard. The battery life is great.
