 Pavilion dv2000

Brand: HP (Hewlett-Packard) (Laptop or Netbook)
Back

Release: Julia
Status: Works fine with some minor problems

Owner:
Twix2247

What works:

Works fast and much cooler on the overclocked Turion the computer came with.

What doesn't work:

The internal wireless card, Broadcomm BCM4311 didn't work. Even with the recommended drivers.

What was done to make it work:

need run "sudo rfkill unblock wifi" on start up to get the wireless driver to work. This must be entered and wireless driver re-installed every time you start up the HP Pavilion dv2000.

a more permanent solution:

run "sudo gedit /etc/rc.local" in terminal. Scroll to the very bottom and add "rfkill unblock wifi" befor exit 0.

Assuming you have the right driver installed, from the terminal type "echo wl | sudo tee -a /etc/modules". This adds the "wl" or wireless module to boot when ever the computer is restarted.
