 TL-WN723N

Brand: TP-Link (USB Wireless adapter)
Back

Release: Isadora
Status: Works fine with some minor problems

Owner:
Piilen

What works:

The device is found and lsusb presents it as:
ID 0bda:8171 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

First you need to get the firmware from here:
launchpadlibrarian.net/37387612/rtl8192sfw.bin.gz

Next you need to (as root) make a subdiretory:
/lib/firmware/RTL8192SU and place the unpacked fetched firmware there

Then the stick works with Isadora.

What was done to make it work:

Expanded how-to:
After downloading the file click the Menu and open your "Home folder".
go down to your downloads folder.
Now find the file you downloaded, right click it and select "extract here" - this will expand your downloaded file into a new subdirectory.
Click into the new subdirectory and right click the rtl8192sfw.bin.gz file - then select copy.
Now click "File System" on the left side of the window.
In the right hand side double-click the "lib"
folder
then right-click the firmware folder and select "Open as Administrator".
A new window opens and asks you for your password to open the window in superuser mode.
After entering your password a new window will open showing the contents of the firmware directory - on my system the window has a red background to alert you that this is a superuser window.
Now click the file menu and select create folder.
Name the new folder RTL8192SU and press enter.
double click this new folder RTL8192SU.
Now right click in the folder and select "Paste" that should copy the rtl8192sfw.bin.gz file into the folder.
Close the superuser window and your USB stick should work.
