Idea:

In windows, if I insert a picture into PowerPoint and I want to resize, I like the option to hold down crtl+shift as I drag a corner to enlarge the picture, because this keeps the picture in the same position, as all 4 sides our dragged outwards to enlarge the image.
I am using Mint 12, and would like this option be possible in Writer and Impress as well, otherwise its tricky to reposition the picture back to the middle of the slide.

Thanks, but Powerpoint's ctrl+shift is in fact accurate and I have never had an issue with it. Thanks for the advise

From my own experience in PowerPoint, the ctrl+shift resize function tends to be inaccurate and _very_ laggy in older computers. LibreOffice has an alignment function (on right-click of the picture) which can re-center the picture though. Hope this helps.

I guess you talk about PowerPoint vs LibreOffice Impress and not MS Windows vs Linux Mint. I don't understand you idea because:
1- It's not a Linux Mint idea
2- You can resize the picture in LibreOffice easily
I demote.
