I am sad about discontinuation of LXDE spin. It served different purpose. Clem has limited staff. So it was time to take a tough decision and he decided to end for LXDE and Fluxbox. We hope that someone in community will make LXDE spin. Moving out of Mint, there are a couple of few good distros. Lubuntu ( I like it, fast and stable), Peppermint (different purpose) and then there is Bodhi. Bodhi runs well on even 10 years old laptops. I have read in Bodhi forums. One user has even claimed that E17 uses 72 MB RAM when Idle. So with the hope that there will be more staff strength and donations / sponsorship in future, I am promoting this for future. From the Pol in Mint forums, LXDE was the next to be taken. So if Clem has the resources, then I am sure LXDE flavour will be resurrected. |
