Not useful. Annoying. | |

For this to run effectively would cause too much resources to be drained from the moderator pool and I'm not sure whether the effort would reap enough benefits. New > Rejected |

I think, current software review system is providing the similar output.

The problem is that those who bother to vote usually have some kind of interest or agenda to push on the subject of the poll, thus the result is not really representative of the wider view. You didn't mention surveys before, most people are naturally suspicious of such things ime. I don't think this is a good idea overall, this can all be done on the forums, I see no reason to duplicate it here.

I think polls should be created only by the development team to consult users on some specific topics. +1

Polls can be an easy way to communicate something with just the click of a mouse. Surveys can be used to study attitudes, beliefs, past behaviors and values. After all, this website is about creating a true community of users and experts.

This facility is already available on the forums and doesn't generate that much interest there, polls usually not getting many responses. What makes you think they would be more successful here? Also this site is not (currently) a place for discussion of the kind you suggest, so how would that work?

Alexio: I agree to your post. I find it easier to use a poll since my English isn't that good. :)

The polls encourage discussion and can spark new ideas and content. A survey gives you an opportunity to gather ideas by having a brainstorm. Also, it's easier for some people to respond to a poll than provide a comment.
