It's strange that some people get always crasch-problems with Mint-Install and other do never. It seems like it could be HW-dependent in some way. In my thoughts I can't stop thinking about some kind of time-competition between processes with different outcome on different HW.. I other words a software design that is missing som kind of syncronization locking between processes. Could it be something like that??
It's really bad crasches, ending up with segmentation faults |

About mintinstall, it looks like it's to do with dbus (aptdaemon in other words). I can't put my finger on it and we're probably looking at Mint 13 for a decision whether or not to ditch aptdaemon altogether and either rewrite it or depend on synaptic instead. Either way it's beyond the scope of this particular release. |

It's strange, but when I should stop the computer for a little break it was not able to shut off. I finally had to use the main-switch of the computer to kill it. Has anybody else heard of this no shut-off? |

#039: Other OS in Grub: I think it's OK everything, but it does not show any "32-bit". This is what shows up: Linux Mint 12 KDE, 3.0.0-15-generic (/dev/sdc1) |

#009: No residual config files or auto-installed packages: apt search ~c is OK. but apt search ~M gives the following:
i A firefox-locale-sv - Swedish language pack for Firefox This time I did not install anything extra after the main install and an update. (Swedish localization however) |

I can also mension that "Nepomuk" also seems to have some kind of problems. it shows up something about Nepomuk and indexing in the panel shortly after login. I don't know if it's an error. |

#008: Terminal fortunes and colors: Colors are all right but I don't see/know how to activate the fortunes. |

I tried to open MintInstall directly when I came back to the computer. It crasched after a few seconds. In the kernel-logg I could see:
2012-01-31 17.38.34 mintinstall[2375] segfault at 4 ip 0662fc02 sp bfaf1328 error 6
What do you think Clem?? |

For mintinstall... I can't reproduce it anymore, whether it's in my host or the vbox... but I've seen it happen a lot before. I suspect it's to do with aptd, and I can't fix it until I know the exact cause. Either way, it's not specific to the KDE edition and so I see no reason to delay its release. It impacts the main edition as well. |

#043: mintInstall: If you reed some of the responses to the Mint 12 KDE rc you can see: # 36 Mike: Mike Says: So far it looks great. For me though the Software Manager crashes immediately after loading. I thought the problem would go away after updates but the crash still happens........
# 38 Gerhardy Says: ..........
Issues so far:
# 47 Montee Says: ...also there’s a bug with software/package manager; it doesn’t work! I downloaded ubuntu software centre from synaptic but that doesn’t work either

#043: mintInstall: Now today I made a new try, after restart of the system, but the windows shows up and crasches directly. This is very very bad in my opinion. Must be fixed before release. |

#036: Localized installation: Now it seems that every needed language-package is installed automatic. In Firefox I had to activate Swedish to get it correct however. (Easy operation anyway) |

For information: I installed the dist on an USB-stick formatted as ext4 and with Swedish localization selected. Directly after the installation I made the suggested MintUpdate. (lots of packets!) |

#043: mintInstall: The first time MintInstall opend up fine, but it was impossible to select anything or to write anything in the search-field. I closed it down an gave it another try. Now it was more like in earlier test, it opend up and crasched down again after a few seconds. |
