What's happened if you launch pcmanfm in a CLI ?

"Seems to be working fine for me. Upon double click op the "Computer" icon, a window was launched that displayed the root directory (with root subdirectories)."

Just as it should. But ... now it happened again (after installation): Computer icon is "dead" when double clicking. When right clicking the menu is appearing but selecting "Open" has no effect.

  • From the blog comments --> If I try to install Mint 12 LXDE RC to a disk with less than 4.2GB the installer stops at the “For best results, please ensure that this computer:” screen. The “has at least 4.2GB option available drive space” has a red “X” and the continue button doesn’t work.

Looks like there's either a hardcoded limit in the installer, or it's being wrongly calcultated. Something to look into.

Thank you for the help and the help on where to find it. I will utalize the forms for my future issues and questions.

another minor bug:

  • The print screen key launches "scrot" but scrot is not installed. This can be fixed by either adding scrot or by redirecting the key to launch the included screenshot tool (maybe better, since scrot is really light in terms of features..).

@cc11rocks

Well, the thing is if you need some help, the forum is a place more appropriate to exchange and have a discussion about all the options from APT.

To answer your question about APT :

'i' stands for installed

'p' stands (i guess.... i've forgotten ) for 'provided', which means the package isn't installed.

'v' stands for virtual package

After logging in and out a couple of times it suddenly worked - "Computer" could be opened and language is, at least mostly, correct.

After installing it is now possible to add language support in the two additional steps (but wrong language in some places).

Ok, congrats Fred. This one looks good.

Summary:

  • Power manager needed in stable release
  • User manager app needed in stable release
  • .disk/release_notes_url should point to LXDE rel notes URL in stable release
  • "Log in automatically" option should be hidden in ubiquity
  • I didn't test encryption, if it doesn't work properly it should be fixed or hidden as well.

Going through the feedback on the 3 ISOs, everything else seems fine.

Approved for RC release.

Running live CD

Nothing happens when double clicking "Computer" icon.

Trying to add language support (after running Update Manager)
Message: "The language support is not installed completely
Some translations or writing aids available for your
chosen languages are not installed yet. Do you want
to install them now?"

I installed but could not see any difference.

Tried to add support for Swedish and French. Nothing happened.

Activating firewall now works.

Minor: Ubiquity lets you choose to "automatically open the session", but this option doesn't work with LXDM. We'll need to remove it from Ubiquity.

Major: No power manager/icon present.

  • Minor: in .disk/release_notes_url, you're pointing to the Lisa release notes, as opposed to the Linux LXDE release notes.

Here is some comments following the ISO testing team report.

  • Exaile
It can't use xdg default folder (ie. /home/<user>/Music), so the music is located in ~
FLAC is the default codec used, but it can be changed later

  • LXDE limitations
There's no help topics
There's no battery power manager
There's no gfx user manager

  • Codecs
WMV functionnal
Check page : http://joliclic.free.fr/html/object-tag/object-video.html
Silverlight not.
Latest version available from Novell doesn't work w/ FF version 10. So we won't include it in that release.

  • Misc
Bluetooth now starts
Synaptics starts
Software manager is buggy, but it's not distro specific : not a release stopper.
Firewall starts
I don't have a Webcam, so I couldn't test it
Language specific installation : couldn't reproduce the issue. Works well at home in french language (Desktop & FF & Thunderbird localized).
linux-mint chat IRC channel : banned from the server, not an issue from the CD
Mintfortunes, not activated by default. Need gcond-editor. Same thing with LM12 Main edition, not release stopper.
mint4win removed
