As Marc mentioned, VLC is using QT which completely explains why it's acting funky. None of the other GTK apps (user or root) are showing up like this. I'm going to install a few things and see if I can replicate it in other applications just to see what happens. |

Be careful though.. since both VLC and Ubiquity had this problem, it could extend to other apps... |

Thanks Marc, I'll see what I can do for the stable. Clem, I'll put something together in the morning and email it to you sometime tomorrow. | |

If you can't find a fix for the VLC theme you can use the default skin theme which certainly looks better than the redmond looking theme. I looked up on line about this issue. Looks like since VLC moved to qt they niglected the GTK theme for some time and this seems to be a none issue. I could not find a fix but here is a link I found on the issue. |

@kendall: It's tricky... I checked gconf, gtk-theme-switch, lx-appearance... without success. It's not only in live mode, VLC for instance looks Redmondish all the time. Maybe Merlwiz or Shane faced this problem before. Don't hesitate to query them on the forums about this. The ISO is going to RC, hopefully we'll have Ctrl Alt Backspace and this theme problem fixed for the stable release. |

Clem, Would you mind taking a look to see if you can find what's causing the ubiquity (and vlc) funkiness? I've looked everywhere I know to look, maybe it just needs a second pair of eyes. Are you testing in a VM? I wasn't able to get ctrl+alt+backspace to work in Virtualbox, but it was working fine on my laptop, your milage may vary. And no slim this time. ;) Kendall |

Suhana, The Fluxbox startup file runs a killall for several applications when starting in order to prevent multiple instances of some things if Fluxbox is restarted or something. Also this version throws a little notice for every parameter that isn't manually specified, indicating that it will use the default. There's no documentation on keyboard modifier changes in this version just yet, but hopefully soon.
Thanks. |
