Thank you Clem for giving Equinox a closer look. smiley

Issues found:

  • yelp is branded
  • hardinfo is missing its comment
  • gnome's icon theme is branded
  • moonlight is missing
  • playback issues with WMV
  • branded Ubuntu invite below /etc/issue message

Comments:

  • It was an unusual move for Ubuntu to come up with an empty screen in Ubiquity, with only a link to the release notes. It's definitely weird-looking, but then again, I'm reluctant to bring further modifications to this installer.
  • Equinox looks pretty cool too, I'll give it a close look post-RC.

Verdict: Pass. This ISO is going towards an RC release.

Just wanted to make a sugestion on the GTK theme, I installed Equinox from PPA and set Controls to Equinox Evolution Light/ Window Border to Equinox light Glass/ Changed selected items background color to light green and got a good looking GTK theme to match the over all theme of this release. I am including a screenshot of it so you can see it for your self Clem. If not for the default if you could add this as an option.

Let me know if this would be possible.

Additional Note: On the first install screen when choosing language the you may wish to read the release notes, you may want to make another payne within this window that just shows the rease notes information, this way the user can either read or just choose his language then click forward, just trying to think of something that would look better than single string of text with a hyperlink.

So far this is the only visual thing I have not liked about this OS, I wanted to add it is the best looking MInt thus far. Love the Icon and GTK Choice. Very nice wallpaper as well.

Note for ISO linux Options, this is simply a branding issue. Booted into Compatibilty Mode and it booted to terminal, the issue is above the fortune I noticed Welcome to Ubuntu and then below that it read Documentation: https://help.ubuntu.com/
Just an FYI as I am sure you would want this to mention Mint and not Ubuntu.

About WMV, it's the same on the i386 ISO.

I had issues with WMV too. The website I usually use for this didn't work. Having said, I manage to find another one that played fine.

Gnomeplayer left a plasmoid looking retangle with notch in upper RH corner where the plyaer was present.

In Appearance->Themes->Customize->Icons, the logo for Gnome was branded by Ubuntu. This needs to be debranded back to Gnome.

Released updated yelp in repository.

Pressing F1 shows the "Ubuntu Help Center". This needs to be debranded back to its original Debian package (yelp).

This will take some time to upload (slow connection here) but it's quite stable and it now includes both mint4win and the local repository.
