@jamie_boo: Make sure there's no apt.conf or nothing in apt.conf.d allowing unauthenticated packages. Afaik the signing of the repos allows us to define the julia-kde priority the same way as we define the one for julia, but the older way should work as well. Regardless of whether it's signed it should always say 750 for your repo and 700 for the other Mint ones.

I have built a new ISO but i have some things left.

- apt preferences

- checking default media apps

I am also testing mintConstructor 3 with a newer build, updating KDE to 4.5.5, no kernel update yet....

jamie_boo

If the KDE repos are signed now then the will the preferences change from the default? Would I add a julia-kde priority too? eg:

Package: *
Pin: release a=julia-kde
Pin-Priority: 750

Ctl-Alt-BS: system settings-> input devices-> keyboard, advanced tab, tick "Configure keyboard options", open  "key sequence to kill X server", tick "Ctl-alt-backspace". Apply.

You need to use the GUI method due to keyboard layouts for different locals/languages.

@jamie_boo:

- What command do you use for CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE?

- To clear the history:

  • history -c
  • rm -rf /root/.bash_history
  • history -c

(I know, it's crazy... broken upstream for a year and a half now?) :)

- Grub title is OK.

- APT prefs, can you explain more in detail? Also, we need to chat about this, KDE repos will be signed in Mint 10.

jamie_boo

found new ubufox package: xul-ext-ubufox (i missed it in clems remove list...)

Ctrl+Alt+backspace is the same as 9. the command to enable it can not be run in chroot, only in GUI session.

History: LOL, history -c clears my base system history for root. need to manually clean the /root/.bash_history.

apt prefs: I thought this was discussed in 9 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=174&t=49606

The grub title in info is now your package clem. mint-info-kde (or mint-info-2010*).

Boo: I think the testing can be considered complete for this ISO. Please take the 5 untested cases in consideration and see the list of bugs below.

ISO rejected.

Hi guys,

It's nice to see the testing process in action again :) I'll bring some improvements to it in the days to come, in particular to make it easier for testers to follow what's going on here (better notifications).

I'm still focused on the architectures issues so I didn't have the time to test this ISO myself yet. I went through the comments below though. Here's a summary of known bugs so far and a few notes to the testers.

Bugs:

  • Firefox's home page is wrong
  • Ctrl+Alt+Backspace not working
  • History not empty
  • Check that APT sources are correct
  • Grub title in info
  • APT policy is wrong
  • What's started by default when a DVD is inserted? If there's a choice given, including VLC, then that's ok. If another app is started automatically which cannot play the DVD, then the desktop default app for DVD should be switched to run VLC automatically.
  • Check/fix playback of Jamendo/Magnatune songs.

Potential problems:

  • mint4win has issues with DVDs... if it doesn't work, I'd prefer for it to be completely removed.
  • mint-local-repository isn't installed.... not saying it should... just make sure you're not missing important packages on the liveDVD that people might need if they've no connection to the Net.. then you can either install them by default, or create your own mint-local-repository package with a trivial repository and the packages inside it (as it's done on the Gnome edition). For info, here are the packages included in mint-local-repository for the 64-bit Gnome edition:

b43-fwcutter_013-2_amd64.deb
bcmwl-kernel-source_5.60.48.36+bdcom-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb

sl-modem-daemon_2.9.11~20100718-2_amd64.deb
wvdial_1.60.4_amd64.deb

Notes to the testers:

  • mintupdate doesn't run in live mode anymore. That was a design decision. It should only run post-install or if triggered manually.
  • Grub title in mint-info is OK. The 64-bit does say "64-bit", the 32-bit one doesn't specify the arch. This is the same for all editions, it follows what was done for the Gnome edition.
  • WMV is ok to ignore. Upstream codecs issue, likely to affect all Mint 10 editions.

Started Mint4Win and only gave option to reboot into Live session. No install from within windows.

Multi Media Support Test: Warning, all types play accept for WMV, I am assuming this is the same issue experienced in Mint 10 Gnome so just put as warning.

For DVD test, playback and menu worked fine but had to launch LVC it did not start on its own but no real issues.

For the Jamendo/Magnatune test could not get either to play music. It would update the artist list but would not play any song.

I can confirm the root history message. It doesn't seem to hurt anything and as user only 1 history is displayed.
