Hi Clem, thanks for the reply. I do have the necessary rights/permissions. I manualy specify the proxy setting but the authorisation fields continue to be locked. Promt as needed is selected by default... I have no way to enter my credentials.

What am I missing?

@avasili: yes, you should use the proxy settings for KDE. If you have the necessary rights/permissions, they're not locked.

I have an issue with the proxy connection. I work behind a proxy that needs authentication. On network settings/proxy the fields to enter the username and pasword are locked. After searching a bit, I figured out that I should add an apt.conf file on /etc/apt with:

Acquire::http::proxy "http://username:password@server:port/";
Acquire::ftp::proxy "ftp://username:password@server:port/";
Acquire::https::proxy "https://username:password@server:port/";

This works for most of the connections. But, if I want to download more themes, wallpapapers, widgets I get a network error, failing to authenticate. Am I doing this correct? Is there anything else I should do to work behind the proxy without conection errors? Is it possible to enable the locked fields on network settings/proxy and enter username/password there?

newW2, working a lot of hours did not bother me when I was younger but it takes a toll on my now. All the high pay jobs that used to be around here are gone now, so I work more hours at lower pay to make ends meet. You should see the last 2 laptops I fixed for extra cash. I always get the stuff to fix that no one else would touch. When you open up a laptop and keys fall on the floor that's not a good sign....

The last two laptops had no recovery or driver disks and it's a challenge figuring out what all the hardware is sometimes. I always get the ones that won't even boot into the OS long enough to view the hardware. Manufacturer's driver pages always seem to list more than one driver for any particular piece of hardware too.

I probably have 10 hours of work into the HP laptop I fixed this week, it runs like a top now!

i love that the kickoff menu works great but since you changed the menu from the rc to final would you be able to update levels 1&2 to get the final like previous versions or how would the menu switch be addressed

Know what you mean exploder; been working 6-days in a 5-day period myself lately. I remember when that math was easy to live with - calculating it that way just meant I had a 4-day weekend ahead of me. Now tho - it means one solid day a recuperation and another day to get everything done at home. My clothes will get real smelly if they make me work another two days on Saturday. laugh

I would have worked on this sooner but I worked 6 days this week and am fixing computers for extra cash again. As far as I can tell, all of the concerns for the stable release have been addressed. Nice work Boo!

Downloading now

This only happens in the KDE version. Let the system hibernate for a while (how long not sure but it isn't a problem with Linux Mint Gnome or LMDE), and when the mouse is moved to wake it up KDE wakes to a RED only muted desktop (I cn see the menu but barely read anything in it). I thought it was just this older Samsung SyncMaster, but it doesn't look like any other LM DEs or distributions (I had Arch running on it as well) wake up this way.

Kickoff works good. Installed chromium and kickoff updated itself without the need to restart.
