Some progress:

  • apturl was fixed
  • all the issues in the live-installer were fixed
  • update-pack3 won't be added to this release (first because it's a new kernel, second because we're post-RC, so it's better to stay on a tested base which gives a maximum of leverage to users)

For reference sake, I'm waiting on the stable release of the Xfce edition for I continue development here. This .iso is based on the Xfce RC and I'm likely going to rebuild on top of the stable release using my notes and the bugs mentioned here.

Just thought I'd throw out the update.

Quick heads-up as I gathered a list of issues for LMDE 201108 RC:

<style type="text/css"> <!--{cke_protected}{C}<!-- BODY,DIV,TABLE,THEAD,TBODY,TFOOT,TR,TH,TD,P { font-family:"Liberation Sans"; font-size:x-small } -->--> </style>

apturl apturl doesn't work
config Inserting an audio CD results in an automatic VLC error.
Cups-pdf Print to PDF gives blank pages
Firefox-i18n I installed Linux Mint Debian in BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE, but Firefox is EUROPEAN PORTUGUESE
flash Flash isn't configured properly (sudo update-alternatives --auto libflashplayer.so)
flash Upgrade flash plugins to 11
fortunes 2) No Fortunes Husse
frostwire FrostWire will not start,
Live-installer installer hangs when no HDD partition table
Live-installer fsk flag in the installer is set to 0
Live-installer partitions appear in fstab with None
Live-installer I defined a ntfs partition to be mounted as /files (partition existed and I did not reformat it). I was having permission issues and checked the fstab file. For the line to mount that partition it had “rw,error=remount-ro” for the options. This would be appropriate for ext? file system but is not appropriate for ntfs. There appears to be an issue with the installer.
minitube Minitube not play the videos on youtube
Mint-info Grub title doesn't explicitly state architecture
mintupdate new mintupdate
mintupdate update pack 3
mintupdate mark mintupdate pack level at 3
Package-selection apt install ttf-bengali-fonts ttf-gujarati-fonts ttf-tamil-fonts ttf-telugu-fonts ttf-punjabi-fonts
Package-selection Software manager shows LibreOffice as not being installed
Package-selection LibreOffice AND OpenOffice?? I noticed both in synaptic, any reason for this?
theme Terminal and gdebi installer are Grey
totem_youtube The complement of video playback totem youtube does not work
The login screen cannot be unlocked
Got rid of the Beep : xset b off (that simple).
when attempting to “safely remove” a USB external HD, I got a kernel panic
  Printscreen the button doesn’t works

Most of these will be fixed in the coming days and their fixes should find their way into the Fluxbox edition as well.

Also the desktop goes haywire when i select quit and it brings up the logout dialog prompt.

It goes on an sideways slant and this happens to the wallpaper and any open windows, But the logout dialog works and looks great.

Also, I incorrectly labeled this one as "Katya" as opposed to "Debian".

This is not yet 100% finished, however it's getting close. It's up for the purpose of general direction as well as hopefully some help with some bugs that I haven't quite worked out yet.

The good:

  1. "Tap to click" is enabled by default. This has always been a big issue for me as I only use laptops.
  2. The logout dialog is quite sexy.
  3. The new menu seems to be working quite well.

The bad:

  1. I still haven't figured out gdm3 configuration yet. The instructions over at the Debian website don't seem to be working out quite the way I'd like them to.
  2. Some file associations aren't quite right yet.
  3. There is a duplicate entry in the Thunar right-click menu regarding setting images as the wallpaper.
  4. The menu doesn't seem to immediately work on a new install and you have to open a terminal and run "fm3" to get it. Doing "sudo adduser <user>" results in a correctly working menu. I haven't wrapped my mind around this one quite yet.

There are a few other bugs. If you can help me trace them then much love and much thanks. Anyway, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the development thus far.
