I've gone through the feedback and all the tests again. I'm happy with the overall quality.

Thanks guys for the help on testing this.

Banshee also works on the 32bit debian version with no problems

@Clem

I can confirm that banshee can rip mp3 from cd's on my machine. And banshee itself is working good here.

clem

I confirm, Banshee works for me here. We'll have to chase this upstream.

The Banshee issue is a problem a lot of people are having.

This is the error i get when trying to run it from a console

Unhandled Exception: GLib.GException: Can't recursively copy directory

I get the same error running banshee --debug

  • you still have to update xapian before you can use the quicksearch box in synaptic
    • Not a blocker
  • WMV not working, could not find site to test Silverlight
    • Upstream, won't fix.
  • print to pdf still not working
    • Upstream, fixed in Debian Unstable, will make its way towards Testing via Update Pack. In the meantime the user can use a workaround which will be in the release notes.
  • not able to rip mp3
    • Can anybody confirm this? It worked on my test machine.
  • banshee opens, and then closes immediately, (I belive this is an upstream bug from Debian)
    • Same thing... worked for me.
  • in /etc/apt there is apt-file.conf
    • That's ok.

Ok, I have gone through the system pretty thoroughly, and this is what I have found so far,

What's working with no issues,

  • I passed all cases not relevant to LMDE
  • mintUpdate is working great
  • apturl is WORKING, (great job Clem)
  • mintInstall is working
  • DVD opens movie player and starts DVD automatically
  • all home folders are as they should be
  • grub is installing properly, to a drive of your chosing, and detects all other OS's
  • Nvidia chip is working, though 3d acceleration is not available

Issues I have found,

  • you still have to update xapian before you can use the quicksearch box in synaptic
  • WMV not working, could not find site to test Silverlight
  • print to pdf still not working
  • not able to rip mp3
  • banshee opens, and then closes immediately, (I belive this is an upstream bug from Debian)
  • in /etc/apt there is apt-file.conf

Things I did not test,

  • print test page, (I currently don't have a working printer)
  • Intel chip set, (my low spec test rig has died)
  • ATI chipset
  • localized installation
  • Mint4Win

All in all, this is the best release yet in my opinion. I will keep this installed and running until the next test ISO and see if anything pops up.

Great job Clem

This features Update Pack 2.

Starting with Update Pack 3 the security and multimedia repositories are also part of stable/incoming, so it is recommended not to upgrade anything before Update Pack 3 goes stable. This will be explained during the release.
