Hi Clem,

As a replacement to Open as root you can suggest in the release notes users can use gksu nautilus in its place. :-)

i did not mean to mark it as a success i thought i marked it as a failure

@cpatrick: You marked mint4win as a success... did you manage to install it fully and boot into LM installed within Windows?? It fails for me with the 32-bit CD with a "prefix" undefined error. Can you confirm it works here? and can you run the test also using the 32-bit CD? Thanks.

@newW2: Good point, result is fine in both cases. I updated the test cases as they were a little old.

@cpatrick: Yes, husse quotes should be installed but quotes disable by default (you can enable them via mintDesktop).

@mmesantos1: Thanks, confirmed.

@exploder: I can't reproduce the white icons problem, it could be a video glitch with your card or virtualbox? Where do you see it? Does it happen always?

Confirmed bugs so far:

  • Print to PDF outputs blank documents
  • Apturl not associated with apt://
  • Nautilus: Can't open as root
  • Nautilus: No MD5 integration
  • add-apt-repository uses "lisa" instead of oneiric
  • tomboy shows a note about Ubuntu One
  • Help's description is "Get Help with Unity" and content is broken

First impresions from the live USB on my TP netbook:

MGSE is very nice looking, and feels like home, way better than default gnome.

  • Note: there are too much bars when i.e. you open firefox. Top bar, title bar, menu bar, tab bar, addres bar, bookmarks bar and in the end the taskbar.  This could be a bit anoying an small screens like mine, 11.6". If I understood correctly the top and the bottom bar cant be set to autohide?

All my hotkeys were regognized, and also all of my hardware

System very responsive (although from a live session)

Netbook stays cool, very low temperatures

  • Note: The fan is always on and runing constantly at medium speed.

Overall very pleased with this.

Now trying some tests :)

Downloading... hope my lenovo x120e (amd zacate e-350) will host this nicely.

Yesterday I gave a try to fedora16 (not booting at all) and opensuse 12.1 (not booting eather).

Thank you Clem

Just a heads up when i select the help from the MSGE menu in the information for help it says "Get Help With Unity".

Also i should hopefully be able to knock off the last couple of tests soon.

Hi Clem,

I am unable to fully test due to my PC having motherboard issues but I have installed and when adding PPA's it is adding them with Mint Distro name so you get error when trying to apt-get update. Just wanted to give you an FYI. :-)

I noticed some icons are just wite squares in the menu. The layout and the menu are really nice, this is very usable!

Test #029:

User agent version is Mint 1.0

Test #018

Either a test case issue or it didn't return correct value for 64-bit version

apt search mint-local-repository:

For amd64 following is returned:  mint-local-repository

shouldn't it be?

mint-local-repository-x64

To get the Gnome Shell in Virtualbox, enable 3D accelleration in Virtualbox's option and give it as much video memory as possible. Sometimes even with this, it's not enough and you only get the fallback mode. On my 64-bit OS for some reason I can test the 64-bit ISOs in 3D but only the 32-bit ones in 2D.

Removed my first message because of spelling errors. Even though this is mostly tested, I am anxious to see how this is built! So far this looks very good!

OK, this is the CD edition so it's missing the following compared to the DVD:

  • codecs
  • LibreOffice
  • Gimp
  • Samba
  • Extra fonts
  • Extra backgrounds
  • MATE
  • Gnome User Guide

Other things to note:

  • Print to PDF is still broken upstream
  • Open as root and MD5 integration won't happen with Gnome 3 in this release
  • Apturl is working but apt:// isn't recognized and associated to it, that will be fixed in the stable release
