Description:

Alien allows you to convert lsb, red hat, stampede and slackware packages into debian packages, which can be installed with dpkg.

it can also generate packages of any of the other formats.

this is a tool only suitable for binary packages.

2 Although it works very well I also don't suggest to convert packages. It can cause serious problems in your system when a program depends from others. So just carefully.

1 Only crazy people would try to install foreign packages. Try checkinstall using tar.gz sour archives instead.
