Description:

Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your pc. every time you open picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. you can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. picasa makes sure your pictures are always organized.

picasa also makes advanced editing simple by putting one-click fixes and powerful effects at your fingertips. and picasa makes it a snap to share your pictures - you can email, print photos, make gift cds, post pictures on your blog, and even share your photos online with picasa web albums.

5 Great program. If your pictures are on an unrecognised drive right click your pictures file - make a link and send to desktop . Then set Picasa to scan desktop always.

4 Highly over rated, would rather use Adobe Photoshop Express. At least I know it works because it is web based application. Plus i'm not a great fan of wine and when I tried Picasa it felt as though I was using Windows 3.11 again OMG!

2 Not native Linux. Might as well install Picasa 3.8 for Windows in Wine. I tried both. They both work for a while then froze and refused to repopen. Google shows no interest in porting native Linux versions. From Google: "If Picasa for Linux is successful, then other Google applications (and future versions of Picasa) may also be ported using Wine," (http://picasa.google.com/linux/faq.html#24).

4 It has some great image editing features as well as organising picyures by date. It cannot import images directly from my canon camera so I have to transfer then manually to a folder then import them into Picasa from there. Picasa's GUI does look like a throwback to wim95 at times!! Overall a nice package that keeps me organised with some powerful editing tools

3 is: heavy to run, and using wine, and also too deep in the scan images (all kinds of picture).

simmy
5 google supported wine projects and invested money towards their development, so the fact it uses a wine wrapper isnt out of laziness. Besides it outperforms native linux phot apps (for me) because it doesnt screw with my organized photos (f spot) or have a memory leak (shotwell) so ill happily use this in both windows and linux till native apps can do a better job. my only issue, is the fact picasa backs up original pictures that youve touched up/edited, by use of ini files, which can beome clutter (wish they were hidden files like in windows)

ashtoash
2 Heavy application! And still worked under Wine

1 F-Spot and digiKam are better, and are native for Linux. Picasa devs are living under a rock... all these years, no native Linux port without wine? Give me a break.

3 a decent editor especially for people new to photo editing ... has some bugs , while trying to print 4x6 photos from the program it tells your printer to roll the paper out to the last ince of the photo and then start printing .... i dont have that problem with any other programs while printing so i have to believe it's a picasa specifig bug
