Description:

Youtube-dl is a small command-line program to download videos from youtube.com and other sites that don't provide direct links to the videos served.

youtube-dl allows the user, among other things, to choose a specific video quality to download (if available) or let the program automatically determine the best quality video to grab. it supports downloading entire playlists and all videos from a given user.

currently supported sites are video.google.com, youtube, photobucket, dailymotion, metacafe, facebook, yahoo!, and depositfiles.com.

2 great idea... easy to use... but it doesn't work! got always the same error "ERROR: unable to download video webpage: HTTP Error 404: Not Found" despite I'm using the last version (2012.10.09))

5 If you found an error format video not available, just try running your youtube-dl with this code on your terminal. youtube-dl -u username -p password "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atz_aZA3rf0" -i. This happen because youtube needs verify your age. make sure you already have an account on youtube. This software works perfectly on my linuxmint12 lisa. Thanks

5 Great program ! FYI: its a comand line program run from terminal, see link for usage. Also,your better off downloading the latest version from the website and manually installing it in /usr/local/bin ,as the repository version isn't updated frequently. Youtube seems to change their format routinely to interfere with download programs.

5 Very nice. For those of you new to it and would like to know the commands you need to use just type man youtube-dl. my favourite command is youtube-dl -b -t which downloads the best quality (-b) and the title of the video too (-t). awesome. With minitube it becomes too good.
