Hi, I was using a Dell eMachine T6412, which I bought at Best Buy in 2005. Since Microsoft is stopping its support of WinXP in April 2014, I decided to follow my friend's advice and install Linux in place of the XP OS. He keeps telling me there are workarounds within Linux to enable use of Magic Jack and Netflix, but I decided to buy a tablet for those items. I'm glad I did. I had a Nook Simple Touch from years ago, and when I recently turned it on and connected it to wi-fi, it started to download something automatically. So I left it for a while, and when I came back, the screen said "Read Forever." I wasn't able to get that Nook to do anything else, so I took it into a Barnes & Noble bookstore nearby. The manager there wasn't able to get it to do anything else, even after talking on the phone with someone in technical support for several minutes. So they took the defecctive Simple Touch and $125 for an HD Nook tablet with 32 GB. The processor is 1.3 GHz, which is a little slower than the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro, which I was also considering. Magic Jack has an app for android devices, and I was able to try it out on both the Samsung and the Nook tablets. It works with each one, but not so well with the Tab Pro as with the Nook HD. And it seems to work best with earphones, which minimizes feedback. Didn't think to try it with the earphones until after I returned the Tab Pro, so I can't say how well that tablet works in that circumstance. Hm, this isn't much of a biography, is it. I work for The American Chemical Society. I'm one of about 65 editors who edit the 45 or so journals that chemists from all around the world like to publish their work in. We're just now dipping a toe into the world of open access publishing. It seems things are changing all the time, but we don't change much ourselves, do we. We grow. We forgive. We love.
