 AMILO L7310GW

Brand: Fujitsu-Siemens (Laptop or Netbook)
Back

Release: Debian
Status: Works fine with some minor problems

Owner:
francheu

What works:

Almost everything

What doesn't work:

some hack needed to make USB ports work (see below).
some problems with OpenGL rendering (Stellarium), no solution found so far.

What was done to make it work:

the adequate solution came from http://woolie.co.uk/technology/usb-devices-not-working-fujitsu-amilo-l7310gw

which explains this:

Add IRQPOLL as a kernel parameter

What a simple fix hey. These instructions are for GRUB 2 (Ubuntu 9.10 and above). If anyone desperately needs the run-through for GRUB 1, and can’t follow this grumpymole article, I’ll work them out. Anyway, firstly open up the following file for editing (contains default grub options).

sudo vi /etc/default/grub

On about the 9th line down, you’ll see a line that says

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

This appends whatever you provide to the end of each Linux entry in the boot menu. Simply add the irqpoll kernel parameter to the end of this line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash irqpoll"

Don’t forget to update GRUB and reboot.

sudo update-grub
