I can get an image from VLC Media Player.

I have so far only tested it in VLC Media Player, selected "Open Capture Device" fooled around with the settings a bit and got an image. Good enough for me, since I can make instant stills from it.

I see no reason it shouldn't work in other software that supports the same "Video for Linux 2" stuff VLC does.

Have not tested for sound, don't even know if the device supports it. I do not intend to use it as a webcam (why? see my avatar), so I don't care. :)

The device is one of those no name gadgets sold by Clas Ohlson. Imported from China.

Image quality is, well, meh... but okay for simple stuff where quality is of no concern.
