  Acer (Laptop or Netbook)

Works fine with some minor problems
What works:

Most things

What doesn't work:

Back light doesn't come on.

What was done to make it work:

Shine a bright light on the screen to log in and open the terminal,( or alternately log in and open terminal blind) then enter:

sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=0
(enter password if applicable)

The above turns the back light on, the below should make it come on automatically.

gksudo gedit /etc/rc.local

Then the new window enter the following above the line that says "exit 0" at the bottom of the page:

while [ true ];do
sleep 1
sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=0
done

Additional notes:

If you then leave the computer turned on it will turn the screen off as any other would, but the back light wont always come back on in which case you'll have to unlock the computer and open the terminal, then enter:

sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=0
(enter password if applicable)

This wont be necessary when the computer is rebooted or the 'lid' is shut.
