Everything is working fine: System upgraded from Olivia 15.0 Mate all versions, up to 18.0 Sarah.
RAM: 4 GB

I'm using a dual head combination 23'' 1080p, 19'' 1280x1024 monitors without tweaking /X11/xorg.conf
Libreoffice current (ppa)
R current (ppa)
|What doesn't work:|
If you upgrade Mint to the nest Mint (or Ubuntu) version sadly some configurations will not compatible causing odd behaviours.
The usual solution: a hidden configuration folder should be deleted: look for /home/user/.config [Ctrl]+[h] toggles visualization of hidden folders in Caja.
|What was done to make it work:|
3 HD partitions
/ 12 Gb ext4 with 2.5-3 Gb free allows to upgrade without issues
/home ext4 with my data, encripted,
/ swap as large as RAM to allow hibernation
/mnt/windows mounting the /windows user/My Documents/ partition
/mnt/dos mounting any other partition windows partition
/mnt/server1 samba share
/mnt/server2 samba share
Just in this computer, upgrading from 17.3 to 18.0 required running twice the whole upgrade process as the version identification stayed as Rosa, even after completing without major errors the first upgrade.
a synology NAS DS-216j, with 3TB available, does its job: highly recommended !
