What works:

Mint 9 installs and goes online. Fonts and windows look good, much better than Mint 17.1.

What doesn't work:

Fn-keys: Sound mute and brightness control.

What was done to make it work:

Upgraded the BIOS to version 6 (introduced Vista compatibility). Mute and brightness controls work.

Additional notes:

Intel 945gm chipset, BIOS 6.0, Mintupdate levels 1, 2, & 3 installed.
