What works:

Xfce Live USB boots up promptly and works great. Finds networks, goes online. Did not try installing.
All preferences take just fine.
Maya 13 Xfce works way better than 17.1 Cinnamon.

What doesn't work:

"Show for individual files" is really bad.

Additional notes:

C2D, 2 GB DDR2, gm965 chipset, Intel wi-fi.
