Most of the solutions I found were old and didn't work. I did read where someone was able to make it work but adding an external monitor. So I pluged an external LCD monitor to it and booted. The laptop screen still looked messed up during boot but was okay when it finally loaded, the external monitor was fine. At this I was able to install LM9 and then applied all the updates and then the Nivida driver, now the display is working fine.
