Installing the Brother DCP-145C with its drivers under Linux Mint
worked out fine in the end and printing is working ...
At the Brother.com websites are nowadays rather fair installation advices. Unfortunately, people at Brother.com would not know about some minor issues I did face doing the installation under Linux Mint. The first (and is missing at the Brother websites) of the following three statements are needed to execute the other two statements
sudo apt-get install apparmor-utils
sudo aa-complain cupsd
sudo mkdir /usr/share/cups/model
After that one can download and install the drivers from the Brother website almost 'on the fly'
