  Brother (Printer/Scanner/Multifunction)
  Mint (older version)
  Works perfectly
What works:

Color and b/w printing works out fine.

What doesn't work:

The scanning and faxing did not work right away. So far I did not invest much energy to make it run. I let you know ones I got it run.

What was done to make it work:

Installing the Brother DCP-145C with its drivers under Linux Mint
worked out fine in the end and printing is working ...

At the Brother.com websites are nowadays rather fair installation advices. Unfortunately, people at Brother.com would not know about some minor issues I did face doing the installation under Linux Mint. The first (and is missing at the Brother websites) of the following three statements are needed to execute the other two statements

sudo apt-get install apparmor-utils
sudo aa-complain cupsd
sudo mkdir /usr/share/cups/model

After that one can download and install the drivers from the Brother website almost 'on the fly'

Additional notes:

When I got the printer Brother did not provide any fair manuals for linux and the drivers had to be installed via wine. Now this is much better, but the scanning should be possible in a much easier way. ...
