  Dell (Desktop computer)
  Mint (older version)
Works fine with some minor problems
What works:

Lo and behold, the sound card which seemly died under Windows2000 works under Mint!

What doesn't work:

It's difficult to figure out how to configure Xfce to use the soundcard workaround (a usb sound card device) that was the solution for Win2000. However, since Mint has revived the sound card, this isn't a problem.

Dual-boot with Win2000 isn't working, but this may be due to the hardware setup. I ended up switching the hard drives around to get Mint to boot, but even after an update-grub and several attempts at manual settings, it won't boot Windows. It will read/write on both hard drives, but I think the BIOS may be causing it to fail to boot from the secondary hard drive. I might tinker with the jumper settings next.

What was done to make it work:

Found the right hole in which to plug the speakers!

Additional notes:

Installed the Xfce version. Have 384 MB RAM installed on this right now, and it works alright. I think LXDE or Fluxbox would run smoother, but I determined the person that will be using it would probably get around easier in Xfce.
