  Asus (Laptop or Netbook)
  Works perfectly
What works:

- Keyboard and touch pad works;
- Wifi works all right;
- Sound input-output both works, volume up/down/mute key-bindings work;
- Brightness and contrast keybinds works;
- Webcamera works (see #1);
- USBs/CDs/DVDs are all right;
- NVidia video card works (see #2) but it's okay with the default nouveau driver too (albeit it's slow)

What was done to make it work:

#1 Webcamera is upside-down, the same as it is on Ubuntu linux. Solution: e.g. to run Skype, I've made a scipt:
export LIBV4LCONTROL_FLAGS=3 && LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype

#2 NVidia driver must be installed manually. Solution: http://gingerbread-man.co.cc/node/10

Additional notes:

I wouldn't recommend LMDE (2011.01) for absolute beginners although I'm also a newcomer with my 10 months of experience of the linux world.

LMDE is quite responsive and looks pretty much complete, i personally feel very confortable using it, there are only a few minor rough edges you might experience.
