Latitude D830

  Dell (Laptop or Netbook)
  Mint (older version)
Works fine with some minor problems
What works:

The screen resolution is set to 1680 x 1050 (16:10) @ 60 Hz by default.

The power management detected the battery type and there is the standard autonomy of about 2 hours as the screen automatically adjusts the brightness when the computer is not in use.

The sound works by default.

The 3G Huawei USB modem works well.

What doesn't work:

By default, the wireless does not work at all.

For 3D graphics the video card requires the specific driver.

Suspend/resume seems to work when closing/opening the laptop display lid, but the battery slowly drains until it is no power left.

What was done to make it work:

The user should download the Broadcom STA wireless driver using the Hardware Drivers recommended from the Administration menu app, by plugging in the Ethernet cable to be connected to the Internet.

Also, the recommended NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver should be installed using the "Additional drivers" tool from the Mint Menu.

Recharging the battery is needed when the computer resumes from the suspend state by opening the display lid after a day or so.

Additional notes:

Tested with Linux Mint 10 Julia.
