iomega eGo Portable HD 500GB

Iomega (Storage device (Hard Drive, Flash, USB stick..))
  Mint (older version)
  Works perfectly
What works:

Works out-of-the-box on USB2 connection.
Installed Linux Mint 11 64bit into it and it booted OK.
Need not remove 'Auto Virtual CD' from it.

Tested on 2 different system and all works out of the box.

What doesn't work:

NOTE: If you want to boot Linux from this type of portable hard disk, please ensure you get the 512 byte per sector type. I have tried using an iomega eGo 1TB Portable HDD which failed to install Linux. It was not even detected by CMOS/BIOS! That HDD was 4096 byte per sector.

Some earlier BIOS PC might hang at booting - no go for such system.

---- Update 20110827 ----
USB3 connection not working in Mint11?

What was done to make it work:

Might plan to upgrade the BIOS of that PC in my living room.

Additional notes:

It's portable bootable linux on the Go. But might not work on older system.
NOTE: Make sure stable cable connection at all times, else entire OS will hang. Just don't touch the cable...

TIPS: Look for PCs or Notebooks that feature "firm-bite" USB connector. Well, what I mean is it sort of "clipped", feels stable and don't come loose easily. Eg: Acer Aspire 5830TG - TimelineX.

Booted OK on
i) ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, intel i7 2600k, 8GB RAM (Home Set)
ii) Acer Aspire 4736Z (Work Set)
iii) Acer Aspire 5830TG - TimelineX (Temp Test Set)
