Toshiba (Laptop or Netbook)
Mint (older version)
What doesn't work:
The automatic fsck on boot doesn't work most of the time--it gets part way and stalls; I have to press 'C' to continue. I periodically boot to DVD to run fsck correctly.
The resolution (or something) occasionally goes wonky and (logical) window expands to twice its size. This seems to be Compiz-related as nothing shows in the syslog--and I can't figure out how to get Compiz to generate a log to find out.
What was done to make it work:
I wrote a script to run /usr/bin/gnome-display-properties, which automatically fixes the display. I can usually Alt-F2 to execute, though the Alt-F2 pop-up window sometimes displaces off-screen.
