What about adding the "Hardware Drivers" System->Administration->Hardware Drivers) utility which can be found both on LM Main Edition and Ubuntu so as to simplify the installation of drivers for supported hardwares.

Hi nkv1: What driver problem is it anyway? Are you talking of proprietary drivers?

Its an outrage that it should happen.

Gotta say Ubuntu has a pretty sweet deal going on for being user friendly.

good idea

Mint can still move away from Ubuntu for full-Debian base but still would need to carry other 'friendly-features' with it such as driver manager. This would helpful for users moving in to LMDE.

This is one of the many reasons I think moving Mint completely away from Ubuntu is a bad idea at the moment.

Nope, sad to say not all hardwares could be installed by default on LMDE installation. You still have to manually compile/install the needed drivers. I do hope that they will include that feature on future releases. This would make software detection and driver installation much easier.

interesting, I thought there was already feature parity beyond the installer.
