Text mode installation like Debian on Live CD (Gnome).
No longer waiting for desktop. Fast and furious :) and possibility to install on old computer with low memory.
Possibility encrypt(dm-crypt) whole partition(Ubuntu Alternative installation can do that ;-) ).
Choice software before installation on hdd.
Excuse me for my english.

Using a minimalist installation such as Puppy has a smaller footprint and uses less resources. Good for older PC's

For old computers with low memory you should really consider using the latest version of Puppy Linux, which is based on Ubuntu, like the main edition of Linux Mint. I am using Lucid Puppy 5.2.5 right now and all I can say is that it works very well on my computers.

I'd imagine you'd want something more along the lines of DSL for a computer that doesn't have enough speed/memory to run Mint's live CD desktop and graphical installer well. You'll run into the same issues trying to boot into a desktop and run a program.
