I for one don't use the same version of Mint on all of the different systems I have, I would like to be able to add the different versions of Mint I use on my different systems, and in some way have the system's hardware used correlated to the version of Linux being used on that system. This would work well with this idea aswell, http://community.linuxmint.com/idea/view/254, not to mention my addition to his idea,

"I think it would be good if we could include this as part of the installer, that way when a new install was done you could have it update your community profile, e.g. hardware info and version of Mint used, etc. also to make it possible to join the community website through the installer, this would help give a better idea of how many users Mint has etc. I really think this would be of huge benefit to the Mint Community and the distro overall."

This way it would recognize a new system in an installation and could either add the info to your community profile or update your info.

I think not everyone who install linuxmint is a user already. Some of them are just installing it for fun. And also our profile only display one version/edition at a time.
