Idea:

If SSD Caching is used, installer won't recognize HDD partitions.
For newbees, it is not possible to install Linux Mint.
At least guidline should be made available.

Intel e.g. has a guideline:
http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/white-papers/rst-linux-paper.pdf

I finally managed to set up a dual boot Win 8/ Linux mint system,
however, it is not easy if you are new to Linux.

A lot of consumer systems on Windows have large SSD cached hard drives.

First since most of the install process is managed by Ubuntu this is probably nothing our deelopers can do a whole lot about.
Second, just a thought, how many newbies are trying to install on a RAID?
