Idea:

I always found strange when I needed to list installed packages, be it with Synaptic or with APT-on-CD: most of the packages were libraries. Since I don't remember installing any library miself, I think they are dependencies from other packages or such.

When I got to use MintBackup to save the list of installed packages, again most of them were libraries.

I suggest to (someway...) hide these libraries and other dependencies, to ease selection by the user of the packages really needed to be reinstalled. It is supposed that all the necessary dependencies will follow.

Perhaps what we need is 2 levels of search, first, one just for Applications and the second, for everything else...

So you don't care to know if there are any conflicting dependencies. Maybe an option to "Display Dependencies" would be better?
