the linux mint update manager (mintupdate) can be handled with the mouse. this should remain of course.

nevertheless, how about implementing shortcut keys for two functions:
for refreshing e.g. ctrl+R
for installing the updates e. g. ctrl+I

working with keyboard is easier (personal opinion).

Shortcuts should be used for frequently needed things, which updates certainly aren’t (this is not Windows).

By the way, working with both the mouse and the keyboard is the easiest — just another personal opinion :-)

Ctrl+R performs a refresh in XFCE (Desktop refresh, kinda looks like windows), Ctrl+I is free.

@Rebel450 is right though, these shortcuts can be easily created.

I prefer the terminal than mintupdate. It's simple:

Go to keyboard shortcut (wherever that is). Enter command:
x-terminal-emulator -e apt update
for refresh, and for upgrade:
x-terminal-emulator -e apt upgrade
and bind suitable keys to them.

Even so, I am promoting your idea. Making two default shortcuts for these two tasks is not that bad.

Easy solution as usual for "ideas" from that kind:
In this case:
Just go to System Preferences/ Keyboard // create (own) short cut

Thanks for your co-operation ;-)

demoted :-(
