I think Ubiquity is slow and has bugs (grub installation error etc.), ElementaryOS' installer looks slick and is easier to use.
Currently it's translation is far from finished, that may be a problem.

Yes, I would follow this!
I like the fact that you can install the OS first and start configuration after first reboot.
Personal opinions are not ideas, however Ubuntu has already written a replacement for ubiquity that will likely be in future versions and by default in Mint unless the developers decide otherwise
