The Mint's default terminal emulator is fine. However, I recently discoverd tilix (while having a look at pureOS default apps) and this is so fancy! It's really handy, that you can run two terminals next to each oterh within a single window. I'm not sure, but I think that I also saw this tiling feature in the Deepin terminal emulator.
What I want to say: Have you considered using tilix as default terminal emulator in Mint?
As it's GTK App, I think it works quite well with the rest of the look and feel.
Of course, some Mint-like tweaking might be nice but IMO not required.
