Ok to activate the firewall when install is complete but whiwh rules will be used?
I agree. Both Windoes and OSX users are accostomed to the default being on. I think having the default be on would be the best practice.
I agree, catching the attention of users (especially new ones) on security questions is always a good point.
I still find the firewalls in Linux unintuitive compared with ZoneAlarm. Zone alarm is application based, but I think all the linux fws are ip-based and port-based.
It should "cue" you to turn it on after installation. Not "nag" you but have a reminder.
This would also "cue" you after rebooting.
I agree, this is a good idea. It is best to highlight potential security problems (especially for newbies). May be it should be on by default and, those of us who hide behind routers with inbuilt firewalls, we can soon switch the Mint Firewall off.
