I'm an agrologist living in Québec (Canada). I've been interested in free software since 1998 but I started using gnu/linux in 2007. I just started using Linux Mint again after trying several other distributions (mandriva, ubuntu, opensuse, fedora, arch) and DE's (XFCE, KDE3, gnome 2, gnome 3, KDE4) over the years. I really like cinnamon so far and where it is going. I find that the Linux Mint developers have a good vision of what users need.
