banshee
"Love the interface, simplicity and functionality. I only have a relatively small music collection and Banshee has always done the business for me. A real pity that development has stalled and I hope that one day some programmers will pick up the baton and continue its development."
5
opera
"If Opera won't play videos try installing chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra"
5
dropbox
"The dropbox client application updates, without consent from users, itself too often. It is only about 85MB but pushed updates occur so often, fortnightly often, that users download gigabytes of data over the year without knowing it often for no good reason. The updates are not incremental and involve downloading the whole application every time a small change is made. I update my dropbox file manually via my browser now due to the foregoing reasons."
3
timeshift
"Linux version of Microsoft's System Restore. Very handy if you have a fastish CPU and the disk space for a few snapshots. (I've scheduled one backup at boot and three daily backups which automatically delete the oldest and replace it). An be a life saver."
4
gnucash
"Brilliant! The only thing missing is the ability to encrypt and password protect accounts from within the program like commercial accounts packages"
5
epiphany-browser
"Not bad but I am unsure how secure and safe the browser is."
3
firefox
"Not bad but Opera-stable from the Opera website is way better these days."
5
keepassx
"KeepassXC has superior security, encryption and more features. It's like KeepassX only better!"
4
smplayer
"I swear that this plays MP3s (and most things) better than VLC. Simply great!"
5
chrony
"If your ISP (or some other firewall) is blocking 123/UDP and preventing NTP from working, install chrony and add "port 0" (without quotes) to the chrony.conf file and you might well connect with time servers via an unpriviledged port (like ntpdate -u ). Worked for me anyway!"
5
midori
"On my system Midori crashes on too many modern websites to be useful. Pity."
2
codelite
"Crashes when creating a project on Linux Mint 17 Mate."
2
keepass2
"Looks like a ropey old port from Windows. Poor fonts and many tools and features, e.g., import and password generator, don't work. Better sticking to KeepassX which works faultlessly."
2
qt-sdk
"Qt Creator seems to have been compiled to include sse2 instructions and so won't run on Athlon XPs or other systems with CPUs without sse2."
1
chromium-browser
"Appears to need the sse2 instruction set to work and so won't run on my ancient AthlonXP system after updating. All earlier versions of Chromium did run successfully. Hopefully the Linux Mint version of Firefox will always run using older processors (lacking sse2) or legions of people in the third world will lose internet access. Shame. I really liked Chromium."
