Regarding EFI, Mint and LMDE use different namespaces. You can set the one you want by default with "sudo efibootmgr", by changing the BootOrder.
I have switched user a number of times trying to reproduce the "Something went wrong with the screensaver" (#392) error that appears in Mint 20.2 and 20.3 (I have changed the power settings there to make it less frequent). No error so far. Has this issue been solved or is it not present in LMDE?
During disk setup, I selected the existing efi/boot partition, but instead of adding itself/replacing the existing install, it created an entirely separate grub - I have 'ubuntu' and 'debian' in /boot/efi/EFI.
I can select the other grub if I use my bios' boot selection to change it to debian first, then the LMDE-themed grub appears and I can log in just fine.
new thunderbird has same issue with client decorations in corners when the titlebar is disabled
No thumbnails for .ogv (video) files - ffmpeg-thumbnailer can do these but mimetypes are missing from thumbnailer file
Security updates aren't installed ootb.
switch-user -> log back in doesn't unlock the screensaver
/etc/apt/sources.list doesn't have cdrom repo, only:
#/etc/apt/sources.list
but lmde4 is the same
/etc/linuxmint/info file has:
NEW_FEATURES_URL=https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_debbie_whatsnew.php
Reboot after installation showed mint logo but did not prompt to remove the installation media. Instead it just sat there.. hitting enter finished the shutdown/restart. (on vbox)
