Autofs controls the operation of the automount daemons. The automount daemons automatically mount filesystems when they are used and unmount them after a period of inactivity. This is done based on a set of pre-configured maps.

The kernel automounter implements an almost complete SunOS style automounter under Linux. A recent version of the kernel autofs4 module (builtin or separate) is required.

This is the autofs daemon.

Thanks for bundling this up in Software Manager. Takes the guess work out of what dependencies to install. Albeit you still have to configure it it, but none-the-less, it's a great way to install it. It would be nice to know where that GUI is that is depicted in the Software Manager store. I couldn't find it anywhere.

Works nicely. Just be sure to install cifs-utils as well if you want to auto mount cifs shares
