Cairo-dock has a family-likeness with OS X dock, but with more options. It uses cairo to render nice graphics, and Glitz to use hardware acceleration. It's fully configurable and can be a taskbar too. You can easily plug applets into it.

This package provides Cairo-dock-core application.

Beautiful, almost limitless configuarations. Old review below says no drag and drop. As of 2017 that feature works fine.

This is the most eye sugar in Linux in a long time. It is an extensive dock utility, but it seems to have several problems many of which are probably bugs. I am using it in my linuxmint's LMDE distribution and evethough the software manager says that it is installed it stopped functioning.
