calcurse is awesome. Helps me get more organized. For the latest version build from source. Install ncurses libraries first -> sudo apt install libncurses5-dev libncursesw5-dev

The version that ships in the repository is an old version and will crash when changing configuration settings. One is better off downloading the source(https://github.com/lfos/calcurse) and building it from scratch.
