Merkato is a modern and intuitive financial market tracker designed for the
GNOME desktop. Built with GTK4 and Libadwaita, it provides a native and
elegant interface for monitoring stocks, indices, currencies, and
cryptocurrencies in real-time using Yahoo Finance data.

The application offers both a traditional list view and an interactive
heatmap view, allowing users to visualize market performance in multiple
ways. Stocks are automatically categorized into sectors such as Technology,
Healthcare, Energy, Financial Services, and more. Merkato also features
persistent watchlists, automatic refresh, sorting options, and support for
27 languages.

Merkato is fully open source and built with performance and simplicity in
mind, following GNOME's Human Interface Guidelines to deliver a clean,
consistent, and distraction-free user experience.
