Notesnook is a free (as in speech) & open source note taking app
focused on user privacy & ease of use. To ensure zero knowledge
principles, Notesnook encrypts everything on your device using
XChaCha20-Poly1305 & Argon2.
Notesnook is our proof that privacy does not (always) have to come at the
cost of convenience. Our goal is to provide users peace of mind & 100%
confidence that their notes are safe and secure. Our decision to go fully
open source is one of the most crucial steps towards that.
Notesnook is a user focused note taking tool meant to offer a fully
end-to-end encrypted note taking experience for everyone. This includes
the majority of our less tech savy users who just want to take notes
without all the hassle.
In short, Notesnook aims to offer a complete replacement for other
insecure note taking tools like Evernote & Notion. Because let's be
honest, these tools offer great productivity but at a great cost to your
privacy.
No issues at all. But, given this is new software, you should remember to backup your stuff.
Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia Mate. I could not import a notebook which had a lot of notes in it using an .enex file. It imported just 1 note. It also would not drag and drop to import, nothing happened when I tried to import with drag and drop.
Been searching for a successor to Evernote for some time. At last I've found it. Almost perfect. Support is available (and fast) if you need it. Consistently good performance.
I installed this app on an android device over two years ago. I've added it to windows machines. This is the first time I've tried it on Linux. The developers have updated this app consistently and it does seem to retain platform parity. Every update so far has been an improvement in my opinion. The formatting and organization options are plentiful and easy to use. The encryption mechanisms seem solid (but I'm not an expert). They've had syncing issues and addressed them in the V3 update--so far so good. I'm 100% satisfied... and now I'm annoyed when I must use MS Word or other poorly supported doc development software. Thank you, Streetwriters team.
Easily one of the best, if not the best, notetaking app I have ever used. Works and syncs on all platforms, is open source, encrypted, and easy to use. Use it, there's no better one. I have tested most competitors (except iOS/macOS-exclusive ones) and was never happier with such an app.
