The Common UNIX Printing System (or CUPS(tm)) is a printing system and general replacement for lpd and the like. It supports the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), and has its own filtering driver model for handling various document types.

This package provides the parts of CUPS which are needed for using printer drivers.

Интерфейс CAPS выглядит старомодно. Для входа в CAPS нужно подключится не к сети принтера, а к собственной. И вводить логин и пароль от компа с которого выходишь. Это называется - допетрить самому.

It’s getting better and better. Its usability lies somewhere between Apple and Windows. Thanx Cupertino, if only Airplay would be that open, too!

it's about time linux got something better. I find it buggy, jobs refuse to print, it shows different printers every day. surely there must be something better - I assume it works better on an apple machine!

CUPS is the standard for printing on Linux, and it's hardware support is great!
